    Apple Cinema Screen 20"

    Hi,

Was think of changing my TFT to the Apple Cinema.

Do you think it's worth the money? I really like the style and its only a 100 odd quid more......

Is anyone here using one with their PC or Mac for that question?

    Thanks all

When you say £100 more I assume you have a 20" Dell, a 2005wps perhaps?

If so I'd say while the ACD does look awesome, it's not worth the price premium. For more money you lose out on extra inputs, the swivel/tilt feature and it's the same LCD panel.

I'd love one but only if you have lot's of sexy Mac hardware on show

From what I've briefly seen of the Apple in the shops, image quality looks fabulous.

My friend has one of these monitor, very slick indeed. If you happy if using DVI and don't mind paying the extra money for the apple styling go for it. But if you have 3-4 things you want to connect I go for the Dell. It was either a 20" apple or the 24" dell, went with dell since there was an offer at the time, £500.

From what I have read some 20" dell had backlight problems, I personally used one for a few months before getting the 24". I did notice a slight problem but nothing major, only really notice when the screen saver came on, a couple of lighter areas, mainly in the corners.

For the main point of your post, is it worth the extra money? Many would argue that the Dell would be the better choice since its has greater connectivity but I think its down to each individual. I love the styling of the apple cinema series and if I had enough money I probably get the 23" apple over my dell, but I already stretched my student loan to the limit.

Looking at your spec a nice wide screen will do your setup justice I am sure whichever one you get you be happy with.

I could not justify the extra for the apple over the Dell, I have had my 24" Behemoth for 3 months now, and I love it more every day, Great image quality, Awesome desktop space and It looks pretty awesome too

Sorry for the really late reply all.....many thanks for all your input.

I think i might go with the Apple. (getting mac mini and Macbook pro soon, so i thought it would be nice to get the screen as well)

    Cheers again

P.S Will take some pic's when all setup
