CRT Needed

Right, What is the smallest footprint CRT to get? Need to get one for a neighbour. Is this any good:

Hyundai ImageQuest Q770S 17'' Perfectly Flat CRT Monitor

It needs to have a small footprint. My neighbour does not like TFT's!

Any recommendations would be great. It has to be a 17" CRT. Ta

Last time i checked the only companies that could manufacture flat tubes were mitsubishi (diamondtron), Sony (Trinitron) and LG (Flatron). All companies with Flat CRT monitors will ave to use one of these tubes, and the size of the tube pretty much dictates the size of the monitor. For instance every 21" crt with a trini tube, that i have ever seen, is 19" deep. So if you can find which of those is the shortest tubes ( perhaps compare the sony vs mitsubishi vs Lg own brand specs) then you'll know what to go for.

I know it's a 19" but it's compact as 19-inchers go... I should be selling my iiyama VMpro 454 soon if that's any help? I think it uses up approx 45x45cm of deskspace?

iiyama do a 17" model in similar styling which is pretty small for a 17" too...

The Samsung SM793DF is 40cm in depth. Good size. Does the Dynaflat have the 2 lines on the screen or is that Aperture Grill?

From reading around there is a lot of conflicting onfp on the dynaflats - some say they use aperture grill, some that they dont.

the samsung site tells you everything BUT the tube type....

personally i think its a shadow mask....

The Samsung SM793DF is 40cm in depth. Good size. Does the Dynaflat have the 2 lines on the screen or is that Aperture Grill?

I have the 993 (19" CRT version) and I can say they do not use an apature grill, no lines across the screen, they use software to get the desired effects. Great monitors though
