I am looking to build a new PC in the next few months and although I want to go PCI-E I do not want to spend a lot of money on a high end SLI setup if it isnt going to give me the best out of Vista when it lands next year.
Would any PCI-Express card do me for the short time or are there any cards that I should avoid like the plague? Budget £50 - £100

Is the X1600 good or bad? MOre to the point, are ATI to be trusted with their drivers?
The x1600 is alright for the money. Ati drivers have not had problems for years so thats not relevent any more, especially with the x1000 series.Originally Posted by mark_a_scott

Or maybe look for a second-hand card such as a cheap x850 or x800.
Thanks, just reading the GPU shootout in Custom PC 33 they rubbish my 5950 as crap but im seeing decent rates at 1600x1200 from certain games but it makes one hel of a racket!
X800 is fit for you.
otherwise,7600GS or 7600GT are both good choices~
