    Question Radeon 9800 pro and as3

    hello guys will it be worth my time taking off the HEAT SINK and putting on some as3 or should i just leave it alone /???

    Also has anyone done this and did it help

    the cooler will cool the card fine, there's no point in putting AS3 on it if it does the job like it is.

    Removing the hsf and putting AS3 on will viod the warrenty

    Lightbulb

    if you wanted to lap the heatsink and remove the copper shim from beneath it (i think the 9800 has one?) and replaced the thermal pad with as3 or as5 then you will get a good 5-10deg c lower temps which will help with clocking if your interested in that? worked with me anyway

    thats really only for the hard core overclocker. Not necessary for 99.8% of people!

    Suggesting something like that to a noob or non pro is just asking for them to scratch the PCB with a screwdriver while trying to remove something, etc... and completely killing the card.

    aye i suppose thats true (tho iv never really considered myself "hardcore" ) but just letting the chap know of all the possibilities out there.
