    Weird Oblivion Artifacting

Dont know if this should go here or not, I've been getting artifacting in oblivion, which i originally put down to heat, but, i cant reproduce the error in anything else, so, anyone got any ideas? I've tried dropping the clocks back to no avail, and rthdribl runs fine for over an hour, where as oblivion starts to artifact in about 5 minutes. The GPU Ram is hot, (60 ish degrees according to rivatuner), which i belive is in spec? (someone please correct me if im wrong on that one, its gddr3 if that makes a difference)

You mentioned that you dropped the clocks back. Have you tested again at default speed?

What type of artifacts are you getting.

Remeber that the 7800+ (or whenever) have multiple GPU clocks. I found that rivatuner on my 7800gtx doesn't work as well as the NVIDIA built in clocker.

its a 6800, and it does it at default speeds still. I reckon it may be a driver issue, but since i dont have intarweb on that machine til after the weekend ill have to wait till then to sort it. Oh well.

Yea, I had similar issues *eons* ago with games like HL/HL2/CS - and a driver update/beta would tend to fix the issue till something else went wrong ...

What kind of artifacts are you getting??

I get distant objects as a solid colour - usually light blue, but everything else around is fine.

I used to get artifacts all over the screen if something in the nearby area was invisible. No idea why. One day it just fixed itself as well.

Check AGP drivers as well - sometimes they need reinstalling.

Drivers have my vote for the cause - either vid card or even directX.

But oblivion *does* stress the card in ways other games don't.
