Is my CPU bottlenecking my VGA card?

I have a P4 Northwood 2.6 ghz CPU and an ATI X850 PRO AGP. I'm pretty sure that my CPU isn't scaling with my VGA card. I have a Scythe Ninja and an Asus P4C800 Deluxe mobo with 2gb of OCZ 2-3-2-5 memory. About to what frequency would I need to OC my CPU to alleviate all of the bottlenecking. I know my ASUS motherboard is notorious for the Vdroop problem. So, what clock do you think I could get without the voltage dropping? Also, what clock do you think I could achieve without going past stock voltage?

What game are you concerned about the bottlenecking with?

On modern games you could quite easily be bottlenecked with the X850pro, but on older ones then yes, the CPU will bottleneck. Generally you need to get up to 3.0ghz on the p4 to match the GPU better.

Depending on the game, CPU may be a bottleneck but then even clocking to circa 3GHz may not alleviate this on latest games - 'tis the age old never-ending-upgrade cycle......

As for what clocks you can achieve, best advice is try it and see. Ideally, you want to avoid too much voltage unless you have good cooling etc., and especially so with voltage issues on mobo......as drops may then cause instability in system when it is expecting higher juice for the clock !
