    Samsung 244T or Dell 2407WFP?

    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a large scale TFT. The 2 in question are as in the subject line.

The Samsung got a great review on the Trusted Reviews website and the Dell got a good review too.

There are some known issues with the Dell which i pretty sure have been fixed in the latest revision.

What are your thoughts on these 2 screens?

    Many thanks

    D

    Hi,

I've been looking at both of these too, I have been reading the Dell forums and the issues have still not being fully resolved with the A02 revision from what people are posting over there.

I've gone back to looking at getting two 19" Samsung monitors instead.

I have 2 Samsung 242MPs, I think they're probably they same 1920x1200 24" panel, although these have tuners in as well, and let me just say they are fantastic.

Both a year old and still looking wonderful - my previous 23" screen after a year was beginning to look drained, brightness and contrast both seemed to have deteriorated. Screens are silent, unlike a lot of the Dells and yeah, I thoroughly recommend Samsung.

Plus to be honest, isn't Samsung a nicer brand to have on your desk than Dell???

    Current: Shuttle SX58J3, i7 950, Corsair 16GB, 2x 1.5TB, XFX 6850 1GB, 3x Samsung 23" 1920x1080, 5760x1080 = AWESOME!

    Hi,

I had read the review for the Samsung 244T, I was quite tempted but not overly keen on the general look of the monitor. I was also looking for gaming and work so wasn't too sure how good the response time would be (anything is better than the two 17" TFT's i have now mind).

The think I liked about the Dell was that 2 of the USB ports were on the back so plugging a mouse and keyboard in so they would not stick out the side of the monitor.

I've just had a quick look on google for samsung 244T problems and found a few people complaining about input lag with both this monitor and the Dell 2407WFP.

I'm not saying the Samsung isn't a good monitor but Trusted Reviews isn't the most reliable of review sites.

The 244T has some problems with input lag. I would go for the dell from dell.co.uk.

You could haggle with the price, phone them up .

Make sure you get the A02 revison!!!

The A02 revision from what I have read still doesn't resolve the issues with the Dell 2407WFP.

What do you mean by input lag chaps?

On other sites it looks like the Sammy comes out trumps as well.

Really not sure what one to go with??

EDIT: Sorry i've just seen what you mean by input lag.

    Ouch!!!

I'd go with Samsung any day, they manufacture their own TFT panels, and have been in the semi-conductor business for nearly 2 decades. Their recent drive into the customer market is a bit odd, but welcoming imo, they're bringing good quality stuff at sane prices.

It seems like not everyone is having this issue.

You will need a good GPU to run games at 1920x1200 and that might be the case for some peoples poor results!

    Hi,

I have that same thought, but am reluctant to jump in and chance it. I want a monitor that is good for both games and work and was starting to really sway to the 24" widescreen idea but keep getting put off by the problems others are having.

I should have a pretty good GPU (7950GX2) when my Scan order arrives tomorrow.

Wait, what's this input lag thing? Not aware of mine doing it?

    ShMeE

P.S. Mine may well by up for sale soon when Samsung finally release the 30" 2560x1600 panel - not too far!
