Nvidia 6800gs AGP
Hi people i bought a point of view 6800gs AGP the other month and after a few weeks of fiddling to get it to work (as the drivers supplied didnt work) its a great card, too great infact for my motherboard. Which is a classic really. ASUS P4R-800vm !
Im looking for a great new motherboard and processor for say £150 whats the best?
My motherboard at the mo runs the FSB at 100mhz with 512mb of memory and the graphics card is being held back a lot, what are my AGP options?
Danny.

I would really say save the pennies for the leap to PCI-e.......£150 is some start point already ! I know you probably want to get the 6800 strutting, but really think any investment in AGP boards is a little pointless nowadays....
You could go for something like a P4 805D, reasonble spec mobo and 512MD DDR2 for circa £150......and then sell on the 6800 and get as close a replacement in PCI-e (perhaps a 7600GT ??).....I don't reckon this will cost you much different overall :)

Are we going for this thread? If so, can we get the other one closed...will lead to messages in both...confusing....

The obvious recommendation is the ASRock dual sata 2, which can run your AGP card full speed, then also run PCIe in the future at full speed as well. At only 35 quid new, it's worth considering even if you don't have an AGP card to run.
