TFT Monitor advice!

Hey all,

Im about to get myself a TFT monitor to upgrade from my CRT. My computer is only used for gaming purposes, so provided the TFT is fine for gaming, i dont really care about anything else!

I currently have two in mind, the Viewsonic VX922 and the Samsung 940BF.

Im not really sure which one to go for, as ive read good and bad things for both!

Any advice is greatly appreciated ;)

i got one of these http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx...0010&InMerch=1 recently and was mightly impressed. £130 (inc deliver) and quotes 8ms response times, I only tried wow on it and it plays really well. No dvi cable and if you get 2 big wide screen experience :)

I've no idea about the Samsung, but I've got the VX924 at work, and if they're even close to being similar, you won't be disappointed.

I'm sure either would be great though I would also consider the Viewsonic VP930, it may be a tad more expensive (£5-£10 by the looks of it) but you'll get better viewing angles, colours and contrast, whilst the response time will still be plenty good enough. (the twisty stans can also be very useful at times, at least it is for me!).

I've got my eye on a Samsung 940BF even more that ebuyer and dabs have put the price down to £199,

I'm also currently looking to get a TFT after years of using a CRT.

Are we likley to see HD gaming in the near future (with the arrival of Vista) and is it worth hanging back for a HD capable monitor?

Just about to upgrade my rig after years in the wilderness and i'm a bit out of the loop with current trends.

Currently, PC monitors commonly operate at higher resolutions than HDTV so go ahead and buy an LCD monitor now :)

Also, does anyone know what the difference is between Viewsonic's VX922 and VX924? The VX922 seems to be newer, better and cheaper but has a lower model number :confused:

I think the last digit of their model numbers refers to there quoted response times,

ie.
922 = 2ms
924 = 4ms

Friend bought a VX922 recently and he is seriously impressed; that was with the £280 price tag. Now it's down to £200 from ebuyer I think it was so I would say thats a serious bargain. Or that Dabs Value one looks like it's quite nice, tempting to get 2 for some dual screen fun.
