Smile Spotted any 19" or bigger CRTs for sale?

    Hi all

I have a matching pair of 17" Flatron 775FT CRT monitors - or at least, I did, until one of them died.

Have you seen (or do you fancy looking for ) a good deal on a 19" or bigger CRT? It has to cost no more than about £130, since I want to buy two.

Those who think I'm mad going for CRTs - they have a better choice of resolutions, which will mean I can play my current and older games in a higher res on my new rig than I am used to now, they have better colour reproduction (I'm a graphic designer), and they are of course much cheaper! I simply can't afford a pair of TFTs that will give me big resolutions each. And yes I do want two screens, not one widescreen one.

Your hunts/spots/tracked down deals would be very much appreciated before this endangered species is extinct.

If you know any good deals or have found one yourself recently, please pass it on!

    Ta

Have a look on ebay. Being in london you should have no problem finding some to pick up. They go for peanuts as no one wants them and they cost loads to post.

i think you'll find thats not the case anymore - my Formac 2010 gives me a wider gamut than my Mitsu 930SB - all my colour stuff is done on my Formac and my layout and webdesign is done on my Mitsu and Sony CRT's

but then you can't pick the 2010 up for less than 340..

Well yeah, we could do a whole psychoanalysis on that pic But yep - you might be able to get good colours on an LCD, but look at the price.

I'm not surprised TFTs have improved their colour gamut, but it's still so much better value to buy a big CRT.

On a separate note, is that a Coolermaster Cavalier case you've got there? Looks like a black aluminium one with a curved door, which is what I've been considering.

    Is it noisy?

Well im having bad luck with CRTs..I bought a Iiyama Visionmaster Pro 454 19" back in the day when it was THE monitor to have.
However, the contrast ratio just plain sucks...anything even remotely dark is rendered in black...only capable of seeing a film/tv series if there are no dark scenes cos otherwise I may as well just close my eyes!

TFT next for me thats for sure.
