Unhappy What to do with my X1800?

    Hi again all,

I am nearly completely fed up with the problem that I had in this thread as I still have the problem and I don't know what else to try - I've tested the system with prime/memtest for ages without even a single hiccup.

I've tried raising a ticket to ATI and they've just said to check my drivers which I've done continuously for two months, I have yet to see what else they can suggest.

If I had know it would take this long to get my computer resembling anything near stable then I would've built a conroe system instead As it stands I spent quite a lot of money on something that doesn't work

I bought the X1800 second hand, although I do have the original receipt for it (in someone else's name) and also, as the problem is quite intermittent, it's really hard to pin down so if I did RMA it, I would probably get the card straight back (it was bought from the famous Overclockers UK).

So I don't know what else to do! Do I buy another PCI-E X1800 on the chance that it would work, and sell the other one in the hope that someone else would have better luck with it? The same goes for the motherboard... although being prime stable it should be ok right?

It is a real shame but I am afraid whilst I don't have many friends, none of them has anything like a PCI-E system that I could test it on.

I haven't a clue what to do, so I was hoping that the great minds on this forum could dispense a little knowledge for me - any input will surely be appreciated.

I see, said the blind man to his deaf wife as he stuck his wooden leg out of the door to feel if it was raining.

It's not the old problem of nF4 + X-FI is it? I don't know the details of it, but I've noticed there's been a few problems with the 2 combinations on some systems.

It doesn't seem to be because I get it on a clean install without the X-Fi being even close to the PC

Haven't read all of your other thread but to make sure it's not your PSU have you unplugged all extra HDDS/CD/DVD Drives/ Left in only 1 stick of ram, turned off case fans etc to give the card as much juice as possible? If not I'll have it off you for a tenner ;-)

Personally I'd RMA it, if they cant find a problem ask them if they're confident enough in their testing to send you a new card.

Try RMA'ing via the manufacturer if you can, generally much better than any store.
