a third or fourth monitor

I know the topic has arisen before but a definite answer wasn't provided


for a third and possibly fourth monitor... what is the best solution

the third and fourth of course are only extensions to dektop and are only going to have a simple applications such as firfox on it

should i get a pci card?

or a vga splitter?

a simple PCI card is fine.
If you have a SLI motherboard you could easily buy another card like a 7300GT to connect the extra monitor.
If you only have a 1x PCIe slot you can buy a HIS X1300 card.
If you only have PCI slot you can use a PCI display card.
Alternatively you could buy a USB2.0 to VGA adapter (but output is limited to 1024x768)
VGA Splitter should be your last resort as that those only support span mode so your firefox window will maximize across the screen. You get limited to 1024x768 per screen and the display quality is a lot worse than connecting to a display card.

Yes It would be best if you buy a PCI Nvidia card if your main GPU is Nvidia.
Its NOT a good idea to install BOTH ATi and Nvidia drivers (Less compatibility and also higher memory/cpu usage)

well of course... but also.. after putting in the card... would i even have to install drivers since ther both for nvidia?

and also.. with the extra pci card detected.. on the settings menu (the rightclick desktop properties..etc)

would it detect a third and fourth monitor or would i have to go to some other length?

am i overanalyzing all of this?

You'll see 4 displays in the display properties and you can swap the position of the monitors just by dragging them to the appropiate position. Windows should have them off by default.

Its just like handling 2 monitors just now there are 4.

It should install itself. If not just reinstall the driver

Windows will just see that it already has the drivers in its database and use those
I dont think i even got a prompt when i did it...
