There's one in a PC I just got back - I built in around 8 years ago for a friend...
The specs on this bad boy are:

I had a multiregion ready one :)
I had one of the Creative DXR ones for DVD playback on the good old days, and I still have some other cheap one, which seemed to be of no use - not really sure why I've still got it to be honest.
i also had a creative one came free with 2xdvd rom cant say i used it alot tbhbut still have it somewhere
I was on a Voodoo 3 by the time I got a DVD player... no need :)
what did it do? How did it help play MPEGs?!
It did the decoding, back when PCs were slow.
Basicly yep it did the decoding in spacific hardware then did an overlat abit like the early 3d cards from Power VR.
Thinking about it I had a system with 4 graphics cards at one point
Creative MpEG card (if you class that as a form of graphics card)
Voodoo 1 (pass through)
Power VR (did a similer thing but with a diferent compatibility list and did it through the PCI bus rather than a pass through cable on the back)
and a 4 meg Matrox Millenium.
lol, I thought I used a lot of expansion ports... nothings changed tbh :).
I hope that S3 Virge DX had the optional 1Meg of DRAM installed ;)
I had a hollywood Magic decoder card in my old p3 500 :D
Haha, I was looking through my old PC bits recently and found my old Creative DXR board. Was tempted to plug it in and see if it still works, but knowing Creative it would probably fry my MB.
yes! never had one tho. the vid clips on microsoft encarta 93, and that other one i cannot for the life of me remember the name of ran fine without one :cool:
