Dead Pixel Policy

I want to buy a flat panel monitor, 17–19 inch, but I know some manufacturers have a bad policy on dead pixels, which puts me off buying one; I don’t want to spend 500 quid and find a dead pixel on my monitor.

So I would appreciate it if any of you knew could tell me which manufactures have good policies and which have bad ones.

some companies off to check your monitor for dead pixels before you buy them, but it costs... if you don't mind an extra £30 or so, it would prolly be worth looking at one of these.

That a bit unfair. Buy anyone and if it has a dead pixel then surely it doesnt work, and can be returned for a full refund.

Nope, you won't be able to return a TFT screen if it has a single dead pixel (with the majority of manufacturers).

Yeh, i just read all of that on tomshardware, sheesh, if i get 1 dead pixil im gonna get me some magnets and screw the monitor up, make some more dead pixels.

I know there is a PCworld slagging thread in the bargins forum at the minute (the free £10 voucher one), but you dont need a reason to return their goods (non software) if you change your mind in 7-14 days after purchase.

yeah well if you order off the internet you can return anything within 7 days with some long distnace selling regulations and you dont need a reason.
My personal favorite is "It doesn't fit in with the karma in my room!" ...

no i think it has to be in "as new" condition, so you can open it and as long as it looks new then your ok I think...

what about that? does that mean that if you get a dead pixel in 6 months you can get a new monitor?

So how do you test it to see if it is satisfactory? That is the OcUK interpretation of the law, but it is BS.

Yeah - NexNix for one... which is where I got my TFT. Well worth paying the extra £20 to ensure that there are no dead pixels on arrival.

damm that is a shame i was gonna invest in a tft maybe ill stick to standard vga monitors after all!
