ATI have tried this before. When the 7950GX2 first came out they put out a press release claiming the old 1900xtx beat it according to their own benchmarks - yeah, sure, if you set things up just right.

Independent reviews are the only ones that will show what's really going on.

Oh I agree. Just thought it was an interesting bit of info. I wouldn't even consider a quad-sli / crossfire setup anyway. That's far too much hassle just to play games with.

I still consider more than one graphics card a complete waste of money... I would never pay 2ce as much just to have 1.2 times the performance... or something rediculous like that ("upto 2 times" my ass...)

Should be available to buy next month.

As for the performance, expect it to be about 10%. The 2Ghz memory speed will make a decent increase, especially in games like FEAR, and the like.

Wait till we actually get independent reviews, and not some of ATI's lame slides, like already said.

I was going to order a HIS Radeon X1900XT with the custom heatsink; is it worth holding that off for now to get one of these instead?

Also, could anybody tell me when the first DirectX 10 cards will be released?

Figures look feasable to me, I'll wait until hexus has given it a good going until I decide whether or not to plump any cash down.

Looks exciting, the graphics race never stops.

It would be worth waiting as this new card will push X1900XT prices down even more. Still, it is a great bang-for-buck card already, so why not?

VR Zone has a look at th X1950XTX up now as well. Whilst the results look a little iffy it does seem the memory was holding back the R580 core a fair bit and the cooler looks a lot better.

Still unless you really need a new card in the near future, may as well just wait for DX10.

Yep, until GX10 comes out there's no point.

The problem is that GX10 means Vista, so we're talking about 6 months *at least*.

Of course DX10 is vista only, so not everyone will be diving on DX10 right away. I might buy a x1950 if those scores are accurate.
