Just ran it and got a shockingly poor score of only 4931 3d marks. Now for a 9600 pro that is poor. All settings we're on default (no AA etc).
Why is this? I have the Cat 3.10 hotfix by the way - Is that causing me to get such a low score?

3.10 hotfix? Is that the Call of Duty fix thing?
What actual CAT version are you running?
Also, do your games run fine? Synthetic benchmarks are pointless these days - go by gaming performance/experience.
Its catalyst 3.9's with the CoD hotfix. (Which is technically Cat 3.10 beta) All of my games seem to run fine - Before I upgraded the drivers - I was getting at least 10500 3d marks.
uuuhhhummm, thats why I've always said... I prefer Nvidia b/c of better drivers... I KNOW ATI has better architecture right now and their drivers have gotten better.
But nvidia set the gold standard for compatibility & stability.... plus with they way they "tweak" their drivers I always get great scores on 3dMark's!! LOL :)
or maybe they are beta drivers!
Hmmm. Its interesting to say the least.
Does anyone know when Cat 3.10's are released?
And is anyone else receiving the same problem/low score?
Cats 3.10 are suppost to be realeased somtime in early december. and i aint getting any probs im getting about 17 850 in 2001 wit an asus radeon 9800 xt
chrisf6969 stfu about the nvidia fanboy crap. nvidias drivers are worse atm plus the image quality/performance tweaks they are doing. nvidia didnt set any gold standard, atis drivers dropped far below standard but compare there drivers with other companys at the time.
dont know what would cause a score so low though, maybe you have otehr programs running in background? what do you get in 3dm2k3?
my spec are similar to yours but i have a 9700np, i get 17.5k in 3dm2k1 and 6k in 3dm2k3
NVIDIAS drivers were updated virtually every week
if the det drivers are so good why are so many people selling there geforce cards in favour of ati i am one of them ati is so far ahead at the moment nvidia have alot of catching up to do !!
sounds like you might have ran the benchmark at 1280x1024 res
or have you mistaken it for 3d mark 2003
i only score 17,000 in 3d 2001 with a 9800 pro and score around 6,000 in 3d 03
Silent blow me! I wasnt being a fan boy. I was telling the truth. I even said ATI does have a better architecture right now. But as far as compatibility Nvidia has ALWAYS been better and set the standard for ATI to try to follow.
3dMark 2k1 = 20,139 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7194474
3dMark 2k3 = 6437 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1705223
I would post my higher 2k3 mark score, but it only lets me publish one at a time, and I want the most recent one with the newest 3dmark patch in there so you cant cry about it not being fair!
P.S. I know if I had a 9800XT I could be getting an extra 1000 points on each 3dMark, but the 5900 only cost me $200
Nvidias drivers arent why people are selling for ATI its b/c the 9700/9800 architecture is better.
P.S. I see people selling their ti4200's for 9600's and thats a mistake!! Unless they're upgrading to a 9700 or better or 5900 or better they should hold on to a GF4ti4x00
Scores as bad as this are due to one of 2 reasons.
1) mobo drivers not installed correctly. These must be installed prior to installing GFX card drivers. It has always been so.
2) Peeps running AA 4x / AF without realising.
Edit: *cough* To ruin my nice concise post I'm going to add an extra possibility now I've gotten round to reading the thread without barging in first ;)
3) Installing new drivers over the top of old without uninstalation first. This doesnt usually case too many probs even for the nvidia drivers and I've not yet encountered it with my nice new ATI card yet myself.
But it occasionally can.
atis drivers are far better than nvidias atm tbh.
nvidia didnt do anything good for drivers exept stick them all into one unified package..
your saying nvidias drivers were the best because atis were poor or becuase they done poinltess updates everyweek to fix bugs from the last set of drivers?
So far I'm going to agree with Chris and say imho installing Nvidia drivers appears to be a little less painless. Also, just judging by the number of posts about on forums with game specific problems with one particular game on a particular set of ATI drivers. Little annoying niggly troubles you hear about.
Just a completely non scientific feeling .... or observation I get. This isnt taking into account quality of drivers in terms of image quality in games which is also equally important when assessing drivers.
