HDTV out
hey people :)
just purchased a new rig to build for a media pc. so i choose a 7600gt from asus @scan.
it has a hdtv output which is like a round black circle, but hdvi cable is different i.e sqaure. cause what i want to achieve is attach the gfx card to my 42 inch plasma screen
any advice would be good.
another idea which i am thinking about is using the DVI , so ill buy a DVI to HDMI cable
cheers

Is there a break-out cable in the box that fits into the black round socket and gives more connections? If there isn't, then I guess thats just S-Video.
The small rectangular socket (HDMI) is the one you want, although I wasn't aware of any 7600GTs with this feature.
You can use a DVI to HDMI cable, which obviously will not take the sound - only picture, but unless the graphics card does 'HDCP over DVI', then you wont be able to view HD content that has the HDCP protection flag enabled on it. While this almost certainly won't be a problem now, with in the next year it could well be a major headache and a gfx card upgrade (plus potentially mobo and Operating system) would be required (think HD-DVD and BluRay).

hey shaithis, thanks for the formal reply. ok it does appear to have the break out cable which then has green red and blue ends.. so this deffinatly isnt s-video :)
i have got a creative xfi sound card, so there should be no need to worry about sound going through the hdtv cable
blu ray is very expensive but once prices come down i shall get it
