    Talking Need New Graphics Card

I sick of everyone taking the mick out of my on-board graphics and my computer in general so I've rustled up £100 for some fans and a decent graphics card. I occasionally play oblivion and fear, it would be nice if the card could hack at least oblivion full everything at 1024 if not fear.

I had a look at this:

    http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...ationKey=11137

    this:

    http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...ationKey=11137

    and this:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d..._promot_widget

If I got one of the first two I would have to get a decent cooler and oc them to oblivion (lol, literally).

Btw- I'm sorry for starting another thread on such an anoying subject
    With love and many thanks,

    Melons

The galaxy 7600GS is a measurably better card than the one that dabs is selling. Well done for finding one, lots of people here were talking about it for a while but could not find a shop.
The ATi X1600 cards are unfortunately duffers, so steer clear.

As an alternative, better yet (but only just) would be a 7600GT.
Overclockers seem to be selling the cheapest one, a BFG model for £93

Agree go with the 7600GT, but if you want something cheaper than get the 7300GT DDR3 version from savastore as this can be overclocked easily to near enough 7600GT speeds.

    Also at default speeds 7300GT DDR3 > 7600GS

    But not the galaxy model.

For most purposes, this would be a table of speed (only nvidia models, fastest at bottom)
    7300GSLE
    7300GS
    7300GT
    7600GS
7300GT with very high mem & core Mhz
7600GS with higher clocks (such as the galaxy)
    7600GT
    7900 series

For 100 quid the 7600GT is the best bet - runs oblivion pretty well

Thanks guys. Would the fan on the galaxy be good enough to get a decent clock out of it? Also I'm looking for a few fans. I need one for my cpu and i have space for 1x80mm, 2x60mm and a 120mm. I dont know much about fans so could anyone give me any advice?

The fan on the Galaxy 7600gs is the zalman that is practicaly the best fan you can get. You wouldnt want better.
The fan on the 7300GT is different and i can't comment on it.
As for 'CPU' fans, since you mention those different sizes are you actually referring to your case, or do you mean the CPU?
By the way, why are you looking for fans? Do you have some wind affliction, or do you just like loud irritating noises?
If, perhaps, you just want to reduce your internal heat build up one single case fan may do the trick nicely. I've just bought a Sharkoon fan (the 120mm model) for about 6 quid from scan.
www.silentpcreview.com is a very good resource for all things fan-ny (snigger) as it particularly focusses on noise.

I have two fans for my case, an 120mm intake fan at the front and a 120mm one blowing air out the back. Smaller 80mm fans aren't too bad if they are not too noisy but larger fans tend to be quieter as they spin slower. I got a 92mm Zalman F2 case fan for a friend and they seem to be good for the price (around £5).

As for the CPU cooler, I do like the design of the Zalman fans. The CNPS7000 is probably the cheapest in the Zalman range, not fantastic for overclocking but still better than the stock fan and much quieter (£17-£20). I think the Arctic Freezer Pro is another one which you can look into but I don't have one so I can't give you any advice. Worth looking at the overclockers forum for some advice regarding fans.

I'm not gonna be overclocking much more than I already am cos my hard drive is crap (at least i think its my hard drive, i get about a ten second delay when i open up programs and the hd has become louder and louder, very strange). I recently turned round my cas fan so it blows inwards, its alot quieter and my chipset and hd temps have gone down by about 6/7c, is it okay to do that? the fan is on the side if that makes any difference.
