2 7800GT's or X1900XT

So simple question. Do I add a second 7800GT to match this one, or sell up and get a X1900XT now that their silly cheap.

I'd quite like a X1950 but £300 is a bit over budget and isn't an extra £100 performance jump over the X1900 imo.

and has anyone tried one of these on an X1900. I cant be doing with a noisy cooler and despte my VF700 dieing on me earlier on this evening(sign from god maybe?) i'm a bit of a zalman fan

i reckon you should just go for the extra 7900GT as its cheaper

and you can just put the extra money towards a DX10 card when they appear next year

7800GT, Another 7800 will be £150 most likely. Selling the 7800GT and getting a x1900 will be about £50 (£180-£130 from selling the GT). no idea of the performance comparison though, think some googling may be in order.

it cough and splutters at 1600x1200 especially when you crank the AA. It doesn't stand a chance against UT2007

Then again I could get a 7900GT, seeing as I have a SLi mobo. ARGH, decisions decisions.

would be good for you to find out how much you can get for the 7800. if its not too far from a 7900 (£167 exc postage) then id go for one of those. if its a good bit below then id guess you could buy another 7800 yourself!

Well 7800GT's are on eBay for 150, which means 100 to 120 in real life. The X1900 has the performance edge, but it will be cheap and simple to add an extra 7900 later on.

Meh, id sell the 7800 and get a X1900. More pro's than cons. Better AF, better drivers, no shimmering, HDR+AA, no SLI.

Yeah i'm definetly starting to lean that way. Even more so considering if i sell this 7800 it's going to be a £50 upgrade

if you have sli support, do the nvidia cards,

if there is no crossfire support, you're stuck with one card until there is a m/b that supports it

if this makes no sense,

im not sure how that the option to use SLI could ever be a bad thing. its another option after all and no-ones forcing anyone to use it. the drivers are very mature nowadays and you WILL see a huge boost unless your playing an old game that wouldnt see the benefit to it anyways.

I could always use the X1900 in a future xfire setup as a second card (crossfire allows mixing and matching iirc).

I'm stil leaning toward the XT as I want the most performance now, upgradablity is just a bonus.

i had a pair of 7800gtx in sli and the x1900xt does everything they could do, with less total heat and much "prettier" graphics. and you will have more room to move inside your case.
