x1900xt or x1900xtx?

OK i am looking to upgrade my 7800gt 512MB gainward card to a x1900xt as i have been watching alot of 7800gt 256MB cards constantly going for £140+ on fleabay (just seen a used xfx 7800gt go for £165+p&p) and if i sold mine hopefully for about £150 that would only leave me to fork out £50 for a x1900xt!

I was wondering if there is any serious differences between the xt and the xtx apart from clock speeds if so is it worth spending a bit more to get a xtx?

also i have got my current card water cooled with a swiftech mcw55 vga block and cant find anywhere if it fits the x1900 cards! (swiftech says it fits high end ati cards but this was written before the x1900 came out). Does anyone know if this will fit?

Some say that the XTX has better RAM, I am not so sure.

If I bought again, I'd probably just get the XT.

no brainer really.. XT for the win.. There are rumours yes, that all XTX runs 1.1ns memory.. but looking around really doesnt tell much..

I would just save the pennies for a pint and get the XT..

Can't agree more.

The only real difference is that the XT is clocked slightly slower, and the price. Once overclocked you pretty much a fully pledged XTX.

I'm considering upgrading to one; the prices have fallen considerably over the past few weeks and it may get even better once the x1950 has been introduced to the market :mrgreen:

Just about to do the same with my 7800GT. Going for the XT, as the clock speed difference in miniscule and getting a VF900 to shut up that noisy cooler. Should clock to XTX speeds pretty easily.

I got 1.1ns ram with my XT, flashed to an XTX no probs. Go for the XT, its a much better deal.

KuFormula is probably the best cooler around for the XT or XTX, if UK retailers will actually stock Evercool, then the Turbo 2 (chip in some extra for Zalman's RAM sinks) will be just as good..

go for the XT, i went for the XTX at the time and wish i hadnt.

also consider the x1950xtx or just wait for DX10 (these will make mince meat out of DX9 games)

It will be some time before DX10 cards appear on the market...let alone games which support them :(
