    Question!!

In the last few weeks a flurry of new AGP cards have been released!! I was just wondering how my 128mb 6800LE(unlocked to 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders with a Zalman VF900) running at 390mhz core and 890mhz memory would compare to the 7600gs,7600gt,x1600 pro and X1650 AGP cards??

I currently have the following system:

    XP2800 overclocked to 2.23ghz
    2 x 512mb Geil RAM
    Samsung 160gb IDE hdd
    Nforce 2 based motherboard(Shuttle Sn41g2)

I know my system is old - I will hopefully overhaul the entire system late next year(funds permitting!)

Will the newer cards make much of a real difference or should I just save my money towards the new system??

It will be a fair bit slower than a 7600GT, but it should lead the rest of the cards (7600GS, x1600Pro and X1650 AGP) no probs..

But the £130 price tag isnt worth the money really..

Spending it to build a new system makes alot more sense.. besides, the XP2800+ should have aged a fair bit..

If you're determined to upgrade, perhaps stick in another final stick of 512MB to make BF2 experience a little more bearable..
    Me want Ultrabook

i'm in the same situation, pretty much the same system but with a xp3000 in the box and my old graphics card is a 6200.

not sure whether its worth getting an x850 or x1600 (both around £100, anyone know which is better?) or not as i wont be making a new pc for atleast a year.

I would agree that the upgrade doesn't seem worth it and I suspect you are CPU limited on your current machine.

If you want a new shuttle, there seems to bea new budget model out which looks a real steal even at its introductory price (for a shuttle anyway).

I just ordered myself a Gainward Bliss 7800GS+ to fit in my current machine (Look at 'My System')
thought I may aswell rather than making the jump to sli as my system is more than enough to run the latest of games.

When it starts to chug at new releases I'll end up sorting a new system

In your case I guess it's more wise to save the cash and rebuild when you can.

The XP2800 is running at virtually the same speed as an XP3200 - although I do not know if there is any real difference!! I would love to put in some extra memory in my system but it only as two ram slots and it runs better if the two sticks are the same LOL.

Looks quite a good price for the SK22G - it would be nice if there was a core duo version with the 300w PC50 PSU!!

I can run F.E.A.R. quite well on my current system at 1024x768 with settings between medium and high.

BTW I thought that the X1650 PCI-E was better than the 7600GT??

I like the look of the SD37P2 with 4 memory slots and the ability to accept double width cards.

However I worked out such a system would cost at least 800-1000 quid if decently specced.

The X850 has more raw "horsepower" whereas the X1600 has support for newer features like Shader 3.0

I think that a 7600GS would be better than an X1600 but I don't know about the X850 though??
