new card to replace x850xt pe. Any Ideas?

Hey guys. Ive been playing oblvion and its given me that upgrading bug. I currently own an x850 xt pe but its starting to show its age. Im after a card that can play games at 1280 * 1024 with HDR (if supported) with AA + AF. Although I know that NVIDIA cant do AA + HDR. The card must cost less that £200.

I play alot of FPS games.

Ive been looking around and there are a few contenders-

    7900 gt
    7900 gs
    x1900 gt
    x1800 xt 256
    others????

or maybe something off ebay but i'd rather get a card from somewhere like scan.

Hoping for a card to improve on my x850 and offer some good sm 3 performance.

    Any Ideas?

    thanks in advance.

X1900XT if you can find it for £200, should do soon when the x1950xtx and 7950gt pitch up. I upgraded from an X800xt and it was definately worth it.

If not the X1800XT 256 is pretty bargainous.

Yup - definately go ATI for oblivion. The 1900GT still puts in a great performance as well

I've got an X1800 XT, it run Oblivion pretty well but I'd get a higher spec one if I could afford it.

Cheers guys. I'll have a look.

How are OCUK doing these days? I havent used them for a long time because I had massive problems sorting out RMA's. They do have the best prices though!

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB from OCuk £170.36 Including VAT at 17.5%.

    or

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB from OCuk £217.36 Including VAT at 17.5%

easily your best two choices if you can find the extra £18 then get the 512mb, saying that you could get the 256mb version and get a Zalman VF-900 to cool it. I would go for the second option.

Well I made a decision and went for the x1900xt 256 from OCUK. The price was right and I actually found a few results for it.

    http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx

I was looking at the xfx 7900gs xt but when i saw the difference the decision was easy.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

p.s. is the oblivion chuck patch integrated in to cats 6.8 or do i have to download a seperate driver?

Actually, its £48... but whos counting?

Anyway, I just got one of these cards from OCUK this weekend. I was not aware until reading this post that they had a bad reputation.... which is a pain, considering I may have a problem with my card - but thats for another thread....
