Planning on getting a new graphics card if all goes to plan.
I may be getting a E6700 and a Bad Axe, and ive been looking at the following cards to go with.
512MB Sapphire Radeon X1950 XTX

Or
1Gb Leadtek 7950GX2

Im not quite sure on what to go for, anybody have any suggestions?

either card would be good, but it might be worth waiting for dx10 cards to come out.

Well the GX2 is the faster card, you will get higher framerates with it. Really depends on your preference, if you have no trouble with Nvidia, then the GX2 is the better card. Though ill add the X1950XTX is faster in Oblivian by quite a distance and a few other titles.
I was going to say the GX2 was a lot cheaper at komplett. the Gainward was £312Inc, but it's now back to normal price. X1950 can be had for less than 3000 if you look around.

i seem to remember that it was only a few titles that the ati was faster in some games but the nvidia was faster in more games, and is faster if that works :)
either way the fastest card right now it the nvidia

I would say save your money now, get something like a 7950gt, or similar, and then spend the big bucks once the dx10 cards arrive.......
However, if the cash is really burning a hole in your pocket, and you need to spend it now, then on the whole the 7950 GX2 is the fastest you can get at the moment....

Depends what games you are playing. Oblivion and other pixel shader intensive games can go better on the 1900, with the benefit of HDR+AA which the nvidia cards can't do. In openGL games though the GX2 is quite a bit faster.

GX2 is general faster as SLI is becomming more and more efficient. If you really need a good fast card (enough for current games), I would recommend getting a 7900GTO (if you can find it), it is literally a 7900GTX with a slower memory (same GPU core clock), amazing bargin, similar price to 7950GT. Then wait until next year to get a top notch DX10 card.

I wouldn't bother with the first gen DX10 cards at all. Spend as much as you can now and enjoy everything at high detail. Worry about DX10 when ATI/nVidia are on their 2nd or 3rd generation.
