The only game I have to play is Rise Of Legends and within a few minutes of play the system reboots. It's a clean install of X64 with 6.8 Catalysts; so far I've tried the following-
- Reseated cards + RAM
- Swapped out the PSU
- Run memory tests on the RAM
- Swapped out the GPU
Running idle the fan barely moves, audibly spinning up when a game kicks in and it's really hot to touch which cheers me no end :) The case is a P180 with good airflow (nothing exotic, it's supposed to be a quiet system) so I figure it's the slow reaction time of the fan. Bypassing the fan speed with ATITool 0.25 Beta 15 stopped the blackouts (the PCs, not mine) and a little tampering with the speeds was enough to give the Catalyst software time to issue a VPU recover warning stating my temp as 87 degrees.
Blast :(
I hope it's just a one off; I'll see if anyone else has the same problem and my add an Accelero X2 to help cool it down. By the way, Connect3D seem to have followed a certain merchant's style of packing; one box about 2 x 7 x 12 with one thin piece of foam and a single CD to protect it from knocking around :)
And now back to knocking over the Vinci...
