    Cheers,
and thats only too correct. With a 6800 GT (a very very good card) I'd keep it for a little while longer.

I'll bet it will do 1280x1024 no trouble.

If you were one notch below (6600 GT etc) you'd be very right to upgrade. But not quite yet chap....not quite yet.

    You're spec doesn't state 1 gig of system ram...or 2 gig.

If it's one gig...you know what you want instead of a card?

1gig to 2 gig upgrade is definitely the cheapest performance upgrade.

Not sure about hanging on for a graphics card though. Look at the huge leap in performance from 6800GT to X1900XT on the Tomshardware VGA charts.

I reckon DX9 cards are relatively cheap 'cos DX10 is looming.
Just try and find similar bargains come November.

having a second thought, I recall my old trusty 6800GT still did have plenty of speed in it at native 1024x768 resolutions. I sold it just to fund my ever increasing e-p**** size for an X1800XT 512MB.

If you're not too unhappy with the 6800GT, I guess just stick with it and upgrade other things. RAM for example, or a new case, or say some extra spinpoints.

I'v got a 6600GT at the moment, hopefully will be upgrading within a few months, probably around Christmas when I have paid off the rest of my bits.

Do you guys think that the DX9 cards will drop in price around then? I heard the G80 is coming out around November, recon that will make them drop?

OOps.. sorry I forgot that when I typed it in the new forums, of course it's 2gb

I normally wouldn't upgrade the 6800GT - it really is a fab card (and yes, it's the ace leadtek one with the great cooler ), but it's just I'm doing my gf a favour if I give it to her - she could only afford something like a 40 quid graphics card so she'll be getting the 6800GT.

I'm now back to thinking of getting a X1900GT, which I'd love Scan to stock a range of, or possibly waiting for the RV570 in a fortnight.

I'm building her a computer because it's the only way I'll get my own back - it was a bad idea to show her Oblivion...
