    GeForce 7300GT vs. Radeon X1300XT

I'm building a PC for a friend and whilst they don't require a lot of graphical power as they won't play games and such that much, they would like something that is actually capable of some 3D acceleration. So with this in mind i've been looking at graphics cards for around £60, the best of which i've found are the nVidia GeForce 7300GT (8pipes, 256MB GDDR2) and the ATi Radeon X1300XT (12 pipes, 256MB GDDR2). Considering that I can get either for virtually exactly the same price, which one is better?

I haven't tried either yet, but I do read a lot

7300GT cards can vary quite a lot, DDR3 ones still seem rare.

There is a review here on Hexus that gives an idea or raw speed, but then most 7300GT cards are in some way overclocked.
Here is a review on Anandtech of silent cards which shows 3 7300GT cards with different performance, and I don't think any of them were DDR3 (not checked, but from memory).

Looks to me like they are very well matched.

DDR3 7300GT is the easy winner, good luck finding one though.
