    9700 vs 9700Pro - 128mb

    Hi all,
Just wondering if you can tell me the differences between the two cards: 9700 and 9700Pro. Is the Pro version significantly better and does anyone have a comparison specs list or comparison benchmark scores?
    Thanks

The Pro was generally identical except for being clocked higher IIRC.

pro version will be bit faster but dont think you would notice much

Stock 9700 speeds are: ~276.75 core / ~270mem for all memory types.
Stock 9700 PRO speeds are ~325 core / ~310mem for all memory types

    just found this via google

Oh and just found a Creative Labs 3D blaster 5 fx5600xt 256mb. Is that better or worse than the 9700? Thanks :-)

In general, the FX cards weren't that brilliant. I'd take the 9700.

lol Not yet, i've only got £25 to spare on a card because im not sure if i want to get into PC Gaming properly and spend the money on hardware. So im looking for something cheap yet cheerful to replace my 64mb MX440. And i've found a few 9700's for that price but no 9700Pro's so the chances of getting a 9800Pro for that price is fairly unlikely lol

Recieved it today (came with no drivers or extras as stated when i bought). But i just realised it needs a serperate power connector, and I dont have a spare floppy one!!! Tried using the one in the floppy drive but the cable is too short and doesnt reach the card, darn it!

I also dont have any adapters for the molex to floppy (although i thought i did but its molex to sata power grrr). Ahh not happy. Nothing worse than having it and not being able to use it

OK, being as impatient as i am, i went to the city and bought the adapter. Installed everything including drivers but its showing up in windows as Radeon 9500Pro/9700??? I know the two cards are identical apart from the 9700 is 256bit whereas the 9500pro is 128. Could someone give me a piece of software which will give me these specs or something that will differenciate the two, and tell me which i have?

    Thanks!

edit: Just realised Aida32 tells you the information and mine is 256bit phew!
    EDIT:

    Just ran 3dmark03:

    P4 2.5ghz
    2x256mb PC2100 DDR
Radeon 9700 running @ 270/277 (heard you can push upto 300/340! but i need to change my ram first me thinks)

Got 4387marks. Not bad at all especially since the MX440 couldnt do half the tests and ended up with 262marks! Although the MX440 was running @ 405(mem)/270(core) --- Jeez....!

    (MX440) GT1 - Wings of Fury = 35.9fps
    (9700) GT1 - Wings of Fury = 135.1fps

    (MX440) Fill Rate (Single-Texturing) = 437.8MTexels/s
    (9700) Fill Rate (Single-Texturing) = 1329.4MTexels/s

    (MX440) Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) = 810.3MTexels/s
    (9700) Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) = 2167.3MTexels/s

Reckon il notice a difference lol.
