Purple tint/overlay argH!!

Hello,

I have noticed that after playing a game of counterstrike source, when
I use wmp10,11,vlc,in browser,quicktime plugin that there is a purple
overlay. If I use media player classic, the video plays fine. I have to

restart the pc if I wish to use the other media players without the
purple overlay.

I have a 7800gtx 256, 1.5gb-ddr2, p4-3.0ghz,winxpsp2retail. It's really

annoying Please can someone enlighten me on a fix if one exists. I
beleive media player classic to be the better player for videos, so im
not that fussed about using wmp10/11 for video, but still the problem
with viewing videos through the browser, like aaple.com/trailers

Are your graphics drivers up to date, I recall a issue with the purple haze quite a while back, iirc went to either color correction or video overlay change/save then back to defaults

All drivers are up to date. I will try re-installing though. Whats the best order to do so, gfx card,dx,chipset-update?

The weird thing is, that media player classic plays the files without any purpleness at all.

There is settings within windows media player performance/advance might be worth a look. I would try the gfx drivers -uninstall/safe mode/driver cleaner

I also think it's a driver issue. Should only need to replace the gfx card one. If the most recent ones don't fix it, roll back to earlier ones.

i got a 7800gtx using latest drivers, will try the beta ones, if that dont fix I will roll back. At first i thought it was memory issue, becuase in past i have alt-tabbed to win from cs:source, and then source has purple artifacts...

oh who knows...

I've often had artifacts on alt-tabbing that were caused by drivers.

If your using the latest drivers, in television and video settings/adjust video colour settings, click restore defaults and apply. Should sort your problem.

Only on some files/movies right? I'm getting the same thing, a puplish hue,. Try going to free-codecs and updating your video codecs. I try to update mine every 6-8 monthes, haven't done it in awhile..

iirc its to do with the settings when you install the nvidia drivers (should be planty of threads...etc on google) follow my advice above and it should sort it for most peeps.
