good choice, or go with the 1900xt 256mb, its not as good though, but it's another suggestion, i guess it's second best now to the 7900gto, now that the two are around the same price....

You mean 1800XT don't you man 'cause I'm pretty sure a X1900XT would poop all over a 7900GTO?

no a 1900XT 256MB (NOT XTX, XTX has higher speeds than the normal 512mb XT)

256mb - half the memory, not that that makes much a difference to performance,it should perform almost the same as a 512mb 1900xt

    here :
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...00_Series.html

overclockers is the only place i could find sorry, the 1900XT 256mb ones around £160~170

go over to THG and have a look at the VGA charts you can find out what is best yourself

1900XT would not poop all over a GTO, it will be faster but only by a bit.

    Plus, the 7900GTO is-

    MUCH QUIETER,

    Uses less power

    and overclocks further.

Sweet Jesus this is confusing, just found out that a 7900GTO is basically a 7900GTX which means it's sweet for the price, but then that Gladiator link g0dman posted is a beard stroker as well.

    Hmmmmm...

    EDIT: Flippin' heck...

You can add on the price of an aftermarket cooler to that....unless you are deaf

They're not that loud. Once they settle down from the initial power on they're OK. They wind back up in heavy 3D use of course, but whether that's important or not is subjective.

All things said, I'd be getting the GTO too though, providing they don't suffer from the same sudden-death syndrome that the rest of the 7900 range seem to.

Yeah, the cooler noise with the X1900 and X1800's is not a problem when in 2d mode (ie windows), it only speeds up & gets noisy when the GPU gets warm in games, at which point you're probably not too worried. It doesn't bother me at all - I use headphones when I game anyway.

Maybe the 2 ive had were faulty? Even at low speed (2d), they were louder than anything else in my system.
