8800gtx/gts

What's the latest on these cards, I've just got myself the Supreme Commander BETA and while my X850XTPE can just about manage it really wants me to have something beefier, coupled with the fact it's very buggy at the moment I'm a bit cautious of getting a x1950pro to tide me over till ATI release their next core refresh, I'm swinging between a x1950 now with much money saved and potentially disappointment in performance gain, and waiting for the 8800GTS spending a fortune but getting nearly the best experience i can from this awesome game...so what would you do?

DS3 + Conroe 6600 @ 3.3Ghz
2Gb G-Skill 5-5-5-15
SATA2 drive
Tagan 480W

I think it's better to get the cheaper ATI card now, so that it can tide you cover until DX10 cards become refined/cheaper, and waiting for more games to appear that'll take advantage of it.

Supreme Commander won't include any DX10 specific features AFAIK so it's just power you need. The 1950pro should provide sufficient :)

x1950pro should be more than sufficient.. or else X1900XT..

anywhere in the green bit will be the 7900GTX and GTO.. having said that, the artifacting problems with 7 series cards seems to be reoccuring again..

Buy a 1950 and wait for the second round of DX10 cards in 4-6 months.

I'd get an X1800XT or X1900XT if you can find one. Although they are older than the X1950Pro, the are considerably faster.

I'm afraid I'm not Australian. One of my ancestors was, and the name has been passed on from generation to generation. I'm (another) Londoner :mrgreen:

Like anyone in IT, I work with plenty of Australians and they are one of the nicest bunch of people anywhere.
