News over at bit-tech is that one retailer OcUK will be selling the new 8800 at:
8800GTS: £380
8800GTX: £530

Hopefully the Scan guys can cut us a better deal than that, I like my kidney(s)!

Yeah, I was having a peak in the OcUK forums a few days back, and Gibbo (OcUK employee) said so himself ... and those aren't pre-order prices, as there apparently aren't any pre-orders. It'll be straight on sale.
Hopefully he's just hyping things up... not that intend on buying one anyway - unless I win the EuroMillions, I'm going 2nd generation DX10 - hopefully one that won't need its own power-line into the house...
£530... this is just rediculous..
Me want Ultrabook
Oh well, another reason why I'm sticking with my AGP 6800
Wow.. yeah £530 is flaming mad, im 15 im not gonna pull that cash out of my ass, ill have to ask my dad
Everyone still remember price of x1900xtx when it first comes up? Above £400 mark, why should a Dx10 card not be £500 on 1st launch ?
So that price tag doesn't bother me at all, question is, who's going to buy it on 1st launch? The rich of course, but it's kind of risky to splash that much on 1st batch of new generations. Later revisions with more refining makes more sense. (and prices would be lower then too)
mmm i don't think it's over the top.. these cards are going to be stupidly fast - i mean, look at Crysis, thats going to need some pixel pushing power to say the least. Not worth buying though, until Vista is in full swing - DX10 compatibility and everything, no use having a DX10 card with a DX9 OS (XP).
And of course, by next year, there will be much cheaper options 8300 sort of thing (or whatver they'll bring out) and the price will drop to about 250-300 quid - remember this is the equivalent of a 7900GTX.. but a generation up..
Hah same here mate love that card - runs Just Cause on full so i'm happy..
Bah, overclockers always like to hike prices high when stocks are limited, or when (they think) they have an exclusive (7900GTO). I'm expecting prices to be around £400~ for the GTX and £300~ for the GTS within two weeks of becoming available.
EDIT**** just found these http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119643 £407 for the GTX and http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119644 £315 for the GTS i think that gives us an idea of prices on the day.
found this on the overclockers forums;
'First of all we shall be recieving our allocation of G80 product over the next few days. We have UK, Europe, US and Strategic allocation coming our way. What that means is we have twice the amount of stock of the next biggest key NVIDIA Etailor in the UK and 20x more than most Etailors due to our relationship with NVIDIA and BFG. In saying that however there will only be a handful of Etailors who get G80, the small fry will get nothing or just 1-2 units.'
mmmm.... and this ;
' I have pricing and it aint nice.
GTS is around current GX2 pricing from OcUK.
GTX is a lot more expensive then current GX2 pricing, about £150 more'
yeah right, i'm waiting for scan. If they are around £400 odd then i'm getting two, one for me and one for a mate (i'll get to cherrypick )

LOL
I guess wait for round 2 is the only sensible option for most....
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.
Im just waiting for that Gibbo bloke to make a persona on his forum pretending to be an Nvidia rep.
Avoid overclockers at all costs, they are ripoff merchants in my opinion.
I reckon Scan will have more units as well, since they have always been close friends of nvidia... so expect it to be cheaper and in more quantities at Scan
