try disabling fast writes and also write combining if that doesn't help, what mobo are you using?the difference between 8x and 4x is very slight anyway

Even on the top end cards you're lucky if AGP8x gains you even 1% over AGP4x, still it is irritating that you can't seem to run in AGP8x nonetheless. As said try disabling fastwrites etc, you may need to do so in both the BIOS and windows driver settings. If you are perfect in AGP4x but problematic in AGP8x it would indicate a simple incompatability between your mobo and gfx card. You could try a fresh OS install or wade through endless BIOS options (recording changes) but considering perf is not being affected at all it would make little sense to do anything time consuming. Did you fully remove all traces of previous cards, drivers and related apps? For drivers be sure to check the chipset manu rather than just the brand of your components as the chipset ones tend to be much more up to date.

Yes, the new nforce drivers are available from www.nvidia.co.uk and fix a lot of issues.

I own a PC that changes regularly, so I don't bother putting anything in here...
