Is it possible to determine if an ATI has been OC'd

I'm about to RMA my ATI card (R9800 Pro) for a fan that has crapped out on it. You can imagine that I might be curious as to if they can tell if it has been overclocked or not... considering it isn't supposed to be.

When they get it, it'll be at stock speeds -- and I doubt OCing results in fan death

    Nope, they cant tell.
Also in regards to it "being a stock speeds" when you send it back - overclocking on card is usualy always done via a software patch, and not hardware
Unless of course you have flahsed the BIOS

Thanks, that sounds good. I was always afraid that there would be something snuck in the bios to keep track of that.

I hope they stick a beefier sink + fan on there... my Sapphire's was okay, and I know that video cards are supposed to operate 20C higher than a CPU okay, but that sucker was hot enough to give a slight burn (although, the fan was only at half speed, but it had a 120mm pointing right at it as a temporary solution).

Oh well, time to package it and send it in. I hope they've run out of fans and sinks, and force me to take a new card, or an x800
