    Pure Video Acceleration...

    Ok I have always been wary of this as on my 6800 and then 6600gt it never seemed to make much difference.

    Now I have a 7900GS where the technology is fully implemented it should be working properly; however when I run the 1080 Step Into Liquid Demo my CPU usage goes to always above 50/60% am I expecting too much? As I have read in some reviews they have got the CPU usage down to 30/40% with a 6600gt

    (This is when using WMP)

    Anyone had any similar problems, or has anyone got a quick remedy?

    I am using drivers 91.47

    For purevideo to work you needed to buy the codec either from nvidia or somewhere like scan.

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...Thumbnails=yes

    The three at the bottom are the ones you want.

    You can trial the NVIDIA PureVideo decoder software for 30 days.

    Personally I think it should be free; it's not like you have to pay to use DirectX/OpenGL, is it?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I agree, how can they advertise this on the box for the graphics cards, to decode the video better, but make you pay for it as well?

    I presume ATI doesnt charge for use of its AVIVO function?

    Also last time i had a 6600GT i had to download the software, trialed it, but everytime I wanted the graphics card to decode the video i had to play it though their rubbish program.
    Is it now just the case of a small codec? i.e. to enable settings on the graphics card / driver?

    Cheers

    The nvidia software links into windows media player. You end up paying as Nvidia have to pay roalties to dobly for the 5.1 decoder. (Not justifying just saying)
