    Monitor or TV?

Hypothetical question at the moment, but in the next 6 months when I have a new house I'm planning a HD Ready HTPC, and I'll obviously want a nice 30" display for all my televisual needs. However, would there be any advantage in getting a monitor (like the Dell 3007) over a normal TFT TV screen?

I'll just be using the HTPC for TV, Movies, PVR and maybe the occasional light gaming, but it won't be my main PC.

If it's a nice monitor, then yes - you'll get better response times etc.

However a cheap monitor will be worse than an LCD TV for movie playback etc.

So something like the Dell 3007 would be OK then? However, having a TV would give you more options in terms of connectivity etc.

    Cheers for the info

The Dell will be a better panel, higher resolution, faster response and probably a higher contrast ratio and could well be brighter. You will pay more for this though.

It also looks pretty slick. Nice thin bezel etc. I've had a look at the screens in the highstreet and none of them look particularly good. You will need seperate speakers though.
