    AGP blending

I have an old PC with an AGP2x slot but only AGP4x cards. I've heard putting 4x cards in 2x only boards is a bad idea?

    Any truth in this?

For sake of arguement the board is a QDI B1S and the graphics card is a Geforce 4 Ti4200. Overkill I know! but its doing nothing otherwise.

I did google it earlier. There seems to be some issues with the Chaintech 6BWP (or something..) but no indication whether its a common technicality.

    From what I've heard...
A burnt out mainboard (irreplacable these days) and a burnt out Geforce 4 ti4200.

isnt AGP 2x 3.3v and AGP 4x 1.5v (and agp 8x is 0.7v).. read the manual of your motherboard, or check for a more recent online manual, to see if it supports 4x agp, if so you are ok, if not then see if there is a jumper on the board to set it to 2x agp

Yeh i think thats the sort of thing. But a 4x card does work on 2x doesn't it no matter the voltage.

    A 4x should work in a 2x slot AFAIK!

Its 1x and some 2x slots that can be disasterous that can kill the card as they just shove all the voltage they have up it! Theres only one way of finding out

The GFX card should say on the box if it works in 2x slots!
