SLi enabled?
Hi,
I just installed a new game which complained about out of date sound drivers. As I was updating them anyway, I thought I'd update my nVidia drivers too.
I'm now running the 93.71 beta drivers, but I can't seem to tell if it's running SLi. What's the best way to tell, and enable if needs be?
Cheers...

93.71 is buggy when it comes to SLI mode, even though i had enabled it in display properties, it ran at the speed of 1 card in Bf2142, i had to install 91.47 (my last driver) to get speeds back.
if you right click and properties on desktop, tab to settings then press advanced. click the GF tab on the window that pops up and click control panel interface, tell it to use the classic interface and that will then pop up.
go to sli and make sure sli is ticked, then you can tick the show load balancing.
that will give u a green bar across the screen that shows each cards usage.
also google fraps, that shows how fast the game is running in frames per second in a corner of the screen while in game or 3d aps.

Couldn't see SLi at all in there, hence the question. You reckon I should install 91.47 then?

give it a go as i have read a lot of "no sli" threads on guru3d.com relating to that.

Ok,
So I just got in, ran 3dMark06, and got a score of 4872.
Then I installed the older drivers (91.47), and managed a score of 4921.
These are 520Mhz cards, so I'm sure I should get a slightly higher score than that?
In control panel, under 3d Settings, all I see is:
Appearance
* Adjust image settings with preview
* Manage 3D settings
Performance
* Monitor temperature levels
I see no reference to SLi at all.
To clarify, I'm plugged into the top most graphics card (next to the CPU).
In the display settings, I also appear to be able to stretch my display across multiple monitors (although I don't have another one plugged in). I didn't think this was possible?

your plugged into the top most graphics slot ? and the card is a 7900gts according to your specs. i take it you have a 2nd video card plugged in ?
-
Ah, that should read 2x 7900GT
Yes I am plugged into the top most graphics slot
Yes I have the 2nd card plugged in
Both devices are there in device manager

have you got the old nvidia control panel up or the new one ?
-
I've tried both, but can't see anything in SLi in either. Do I need to install some motherboard driver or something?
Cheers...

you need to tell the bios the mobo is using SLI in most cases, did you read the manual ?
if not read it ;)

Thanks Gonzo that worked for me Perfect to enable sli

Thx dude, turns out a previous BIOS reset turned off the SLi aperture.... :-P
All fixed now...

A great tool is nView - it sits in your taskbar, displays FPS like Fraps and with a few more stats like temperature in an overlay, and from it you can choose what SLI mode to run in. It might not be necessary for you but I've got a 7900GX2 and there's nothing in the nVidia control panel (old or new) to display SLI usage on it, without nView.
Another good tool is nHancer, which is for modifying game SLI profiles. I know you can do this in the nVidia control panel too, but nHancer explains what all the settings are actually for, and it's a lot easier and clearer to use.
