Really? I'd have thought Asus were using the same PCB as everyone else. The Asus website shows that they think the card has AVIVO.

website down at the moe. Yes, well I have to conclude that you just cant rely on reviews. People get things wrong. Not the first time. Yet, on the review I do remember them showing a picture and showing where the Avivo chip should be.

    Sorry for hijacking this thread.

You think the 8800 will never be outdated?

You'll still have to upgrade, just at a different time, if that's later then arguably you'll get better performance for the price.

Grab a x1950pro get a C2D then consider getting a DX10 GPU as your CPU at the moment will bottleneck it to hell and back.

Hard to say. The x1950xt is a great card and does perform 25% better. You loose some value because the faster you go the more you have to pay for it - again it comes down to what else would you spend the money on?

If you can't quite decide then perhaps go for the x1950pro ultimate, which can overclock quite well. It's not as fast as the x1950xt, but it's 20 quid cheaper.

Hey, I just read this from you so I decided to register on this forum to warn you about the Sapphire 1950pro. Many people seem to have a lot of problems with it. It seems that there is a heat related problem that makes this card crashes in nearly all the games.

And it happens to many users.

Thanks for the info frank. It's a tremendously popular card but we've not heard of many failures over here. Are the people you've heard overclocking? It's known not to be an overclocker at default volts - you need the ultimate edition to be able to overclock at all.

Hi, I'm from Geneva, Switzerland. There is a whole thread about defective Sapphire 1950pro on a french forum: sorry I can't post the URL coz I have less than 5 messages. Many users have crashes at stock speed. Some users report no problem though. It could be a faulty batch of cards in France only, however I prefer to avoid the risk so I have ordered an Asus 1950pro instead (it costs just 3CHF more than a Sapphire so...).
