New Moniter
Just about to buy all the bits for an upgrade, when i realised that firstly my moniter was pretty rubbish and secondly that it only had a vga input.
The gfx i'm gonna buy (sapphire x1950pro 256mb) doesn't have a vga out (I don't think). Would a simple vga to dvi cable work?
I'm also therefore looking at new moniters. If i was going to bite the bullet and buy a new one, i'd be looking to spend around £200 possibly even £300. What do you guys suggest at this price - i don't want speakers included and don't care about the number of inputs as long as it dvi. I'm going to be gaming primarily so i presume a high refresh rate is important. Oh and widescreen would be nice.
Any suggestions welcome.
btw, currently looking at the Samsung 225BW, above my budget, but still very nice - what do you guys think?

The samsung 205BW is 200 at most places just now, which I would highly recommend, but if you are looking to go for a 22" screen, this is around the 220 mark but it has twin VGA opposed to having a DVI input.

If you have a x1950pro, which is a very meaty card, you'll be wasting your power only trying to run at 1280 x 1024. So that means you want bigger, so either 1600 x 1200 (if you really really must go 4:3) or more realistically widescreen :)
Check out widescreen gaming forum for general good advice.
19" models are very cheap, but really you want to be looking at 20" or 22" monitors with 1680 x 1050 resolution (unless you seriously want to splash out on a 24" at over £500).
Have a look at what Scan have on offer at the moment.
I'd be tempted by the 22" Asus if I were you...

Nothing wrong with VGA input - just use the supplied DVI-VGA adaptor.

I have just handed down my 19" Benq which is analog only to my son who is currently running a X1950XTX and it looks good to me :)
I think people are becoming DVI snobs and there is no need to be because there is no diference to the quality of picture you see.
Like kalniel said just use the supplied DVI-VGA adaptor.
