I think my Radeon 9800 Pro is B0rked..:( *UPDATE*

    oh well...

    Powercolor 9800 Pro 128MB

I bought my card about 6 weeks ago at which point I must admit it did flinch (ie screen corruption) in BIOS, both WinME and WinXP... My system is an overclocked NF7-S etc (see sig) but its still the same at stock speeds

The problem seems to be getting worse, Im now kicking my self as the BIOS screen corruption happened from the start, I should have took it back and got my money back

A mate of mine bought it from Scan for me, listed as "ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB" and the unbranded ones must all be Powercolor

Anyone else had this (Rose Tinted Glasses...)...?

Well got the RMA replacement today and check out what happened on bootup for the first time....

Well as you can imagine im not impressed. Strangely enough, my housemate who went and exchanged it said the guy opened the package to 'check' everything (the box comes factory sealed), I got home from work, opened up and the power splitter cable is missing...argh!

Looks like another trip to Scan this weekend

GF2 MX is very bad. Its 2D quality is utterly appalling being worse than many in the 8 meg PCI era on clarity. About the only thing worse you can do to your eyes is tormenting them by running Voodoo2 pass through cable on the signal.

yeah I will test it on my shuttle methinks before I return it.

Ive tested other cards (Radeon 9600 Pro and GF2MX) and they are fine, 400W Sparkle PSU in the rig too :/

    Check this out though....

Powercolor confirmed that one was bad, looks like I've got two of em, still annoyed about the missing power cable too, I think I've been given someone elses RMA....

Yay! Got sorted, I took the card back to Scan. Lots of 3D benchies were run and no corruption, I told the tech guy that I'll go and get my system.

I got back there and they had written the card off, it started to corrupt the display/crash system just after I left.

Fortunately for me they didnt have any Powercolor Radeon 9800 Pro's in stock so I was offered a refund, I refused as I just wanted a 'working' Radeon 9800 Pro card.

So basically they swapped it for a nice (unopened) Hercules one. Tested and working fine.

    Top class customer service!

They were in need of a few good votes last time I looked too - I've had some nightmares with Scan so it's nice to hear of them doing something decent.
