    DVI-I or DVI-D?

Anyone know what the difference is between these two?

Is there a particular one I need to go for to run on my 9800 Pro, with a view to using it for any future, more modern GFX card I get?

DVI-I is both the analogue and digital signals - you can plug a DVI-VGA adaptor into it and get just the analogue signal, or use it for digital.

DVI-D is just the digital signal.

If you're talking about monitors, and your 9800pro does not have a DVI output, then you need one that takes VGA-15 input.

My 9800 Pro has DVI and D-Sub, so either would probably do.

    Thanks

You'll be wanting a DVI-D cable. Forget the analogue bit. I recently got a DVI-D Belkin PureAV cable to go between my 9800pro and a widescreen tv. The TV doesn't have holes to accomodate the extra four 'analogue' pins, so a DVI-I cable would have been an expensive mistake.

In a piece of stunning design, my Hanns-G monitor has the DVI socket directly above the stand pivot, so the DVI cable I nicked off my Dad won't fit. Anyone know if there's some which have the plastic bit at the end no longer than a D-Sub one?
