Is a widescreen for me ?

Hello there guys.

I'm thinking about getting the "Asus VW192S 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor"

The thing is, it's widescreen, and I don't really know if widescreen would be for me.

First of all, I want a TFT no matter what, my CRT is currently too big and it just takes up too much space.

Is there a difference between normal and widescreen monitors? How do games work on them? I only have a 7600GT graphics card so it's not like I will be able to play on massive resolutions....

Do most games support widescreen ? As the main thing I do on my PC is play games and there's no point in having a widescreen if the games look ugly on them !

Can any one please shed some light on this ?

What games do you play? most support widescreen, tho not 'out of the box', have a look here for more information about widescreen gaming :)

The only point i'd make about that monitor is that it doesnt have a digital input (DVI)...

There are lots of threads around about widescreen monitors, so have a quick search and you'll find lots of info :)

Thanks for that link mate.

But, for games that don't support widescreen monitors.. What will it look like ? Would there be just big black squares by the side of the game picture its self ? Would have to run resolutions like 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 etc...

Depends on your settings in the control panel. You can either have it with black lines at the sides, or you can have it stretch to fit the screen.

Just took a proper look at that website, and the games I play all seem to be widescreen enabled ! :D

on this subject i am looking at a 22inch tft widescreen
its not got DVI inputs is there a major diffrence between the 2 and is it worth the extra for DVI!?
