512MB Sapphire RX1950Pro OR 512MB XFX 7950GT XT

Hey guys,
After reading some reviews on these 2 cards, the Nvidia card seems to perform slightly better, but is about £40 more dear than the ATi one.

I wanted to know, if you guys think it's worth getting that NVidia card over that ATi one, or should I not even bother with the 512mb version ATi card and just go with the 256mb version of the ATi card?

I also read that there is no ability to OC the x1950pro cards - Is that still the case?

Thanks

If you like ATI go ATI but if you like Nvidia go Nvidia

But personally I would go for BFG 7950GT from scan but on the other hand the ATI X1950 Pro 512 for about £150 from scan all so looks good.

ATi cards at the moment can do HDR+AA as Nvidia can't they can only do HDR or AA not both.

I would say go for ATI

Neither... I'd go for a 256MB X1950XT.

The X1950XT is very similar to the 7950GT in price and FPS, but has the added bonus of HDR + AA and ATi's superior (*) image quality, that's why it got my vote.

(*) personal opinion.

i hate ati but nightshadow does make sense for once

the 1950xt with hdr +aa would be better i have a 7900gt and on oblivion i have to choose one or the other which is a shame

both good cards though

although i would say the 1950xt fan is huge and if the x1800xt is anything to go seriously noisy too

so personally id get the nvidia but for performance and features the ati is the better card

I make sense all the time, but I thank-you.

As for a noisy fan, use the money you save over buying a 7950GT and get an Arctic Accelero or something similar.

The X1950XT is probably a better card as long as your using just Direct 3D apps and have a computer thats noisy anyway, if you don't want to make a nice and quiet computer noisy then theres 2 routes, get a X1950XT and a replacement cooler (the Arctic Accelero is really quiet, even when the fan is turned up) or get a GeForce 7950GT which runs cooler and quieter and is also much more suited to OpenGL as well as Direct 3D.

Plus you can always reprogram the BIOS and unlock near GeForce 7900GTX performance from a 7950GT much like I did (check my system on the left!)

If you are looking at the x1950xt, consider the HIS ATI Radeon X1950 XT ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) at Overclockers.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-067-HT

Its currently going for £197. Reviews are good and it is silent, no need to buy the accelero, this one is meant to really exhust the heat out of the system.

The default cooler on the x1950xt exhausts heat out the back of the case very well. It is noisy when it ramps up though - but to be fair in my system it rarely ramps up much at all.

HIS version is said to be 'quiet and more efficient' than standard stock versions.
