    Flatscreen to suit 9800 Pro?

I've got £250 from Chrimbo (which could probably be extended to £350) and I'm looking for a new monitor. I'm interested in 19/20" mainly for office work with the odd bash at Half Life 2. I've got no preference for widescreen or not, but I'm not sure whether the 9800 Pro is capable of driving something of this size.

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

If its just HL2 you'll ever play, then 9800Pro should handle the res fine.. 1600x1050 shouldnt be too much of a problem if you turn AA off.. maybe shove some settings to medium..

for £250, Dell's 20.1" E207WFP cheapo widescreen should fit the bill fine... But thats if you fancy the DELL trademark..

    Otherwise.. I'd go with a 22'' ASUS MW221U.. for £270 notes..
    Me want Ultrabook

I have a nvidia 6800 and a 20" dell, but it can only just handle CS at 1600x1050, so be careful. It's playable, but I doubt I'm playing well with it, although I do have a naff processor...

I'll be upgrading after January anyway .

If my x1300 can cope with a 1680x1050 screen, I'm sure your 9800 can

Something like the Dell or Samsung 205BW would be awesome

AJ - still on the Athlon?

yep.. I think its more with the processor than the graphics chip.. I recall HL2 engine is pretty easy on most systems..

Also been looking at the Axis webcams and thinking how supremely cool they are

I am currently driving a ViewSonic 1200*1600 with a 9800 Pro and it works OK, not used for games though, but OK for everyday work and photo editing.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

Hi - I have an ATI 9800PRO too. I bought it quite late on in the product cycle as at that stage the 9800PRO chip was discontinued & ATI were using 9800XT chips instead. A quick flash of the BIOS & i was the proud owner of a 9800XT which i could significantly overclock.

Monitor-wise I just bought a 20" Philips 200WP7 ES - there is a detailed review of it in CUSTOM PC & apart from the value side of things it came out near the top (in fact it came top of the technical tests.) I bought it from germany quite cheap. I highly recommend it for gaming & photoediting.

    I hope this helps

I have a Dell 2001FP (1600*1200) on my 9800pro and it works well. I think just the highest resolutions (that need dual link will give technical problems). The one thing to look out for is 6-bit panels. The have faster response times, but can band due to a lower number of colors.
