Card for graphic design

Looking to build a new comp for the wife. Wanted to first narrow down the graphics card first. She will not be gamning on this system. She uses Photoshop, Indesign, Quark, Freehand, etc. for all the 2D types of work. Will also do some video editing on it.

The only thing that is locked in is the 2405 FPW Dell monitor that we have for her (one for me too ).

I take it's going to be PCI-E

Just go for ATI X1950 Pro 512 which is a very good card from what I've read and seen and cheap to at the moment

or just get a 7900

If you are wanting exclusively 2D output and are not overly concerned about 3D acceleration then a card such as a Radeon X1950 Pro is probably overkill, but i'd say go with something ATi that isnt too pricey as ATi typically have the better 2D output of the 2 main manufacturers, this MSI ATi X1300Pro for £48.18 is probably pretty much spot on for what you'll be needing from a graphics card and it saves you money to spend on other parts of the computer that are more likely to increase the performance of the PC for the applications that you are using it for (more memory, better CPU etc.)

The 2D output over a digital link shouldnt really differ from NV/ ATi.
If she is only doing 2D work, get the cheapest card with Digital out that you can, that supports the resolution she will be using.

Just stick a bottom-end ATI/nVidia (X1300 or 7200) in it and save money. An X1950 Pro is pointless for 2D work, even more so the 512MB version.
