Best card for gaming under 100 quid

    Hi all

My 6800 gt has just died a death after a couple of years and I was wondering what the best cards are for under 100 quid. I could get another 6800 for around that price but I was wondering what other cards may be better, 100 quid is my upper limit so if I can get something good for less it would be great (xmas having just beaten my bank account into submission and all!). The main usage of the card would be gaming (specificaly bf 2142) so I want to spec to that, oh and it has to be agp as my mobo doesn't have pci-e.

Might be able to scoop a 7600GT for that price. On the ATi side you could get an X850XT, but they don't have SM3 support, so I'd go with the nVidia card. They'd both be about 20% faster than your old 6800GT I think...

I'll second that 7600GT as your best bet but on scan the only one in stock is £120.

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=462642

I don't know if you will find one at the £100 mark but you may. I would not go for less than a 7600GT as you would notice a performance loss.

    Comparing 7600GT to your 7600GS

Core Speed GT 560 GS 350

Memory Speed GT 1400 GS 600

    Pipelines GT 12 GS 8

    Vertex GT 5 GS 4

So GT much much better than GS

not sure on AGP, but price will go up i would think.

on par with 7600gt's to i belive

The 7600GT is about 50% faster than an X1650 Pro...

For a little over £120 you can get an x1950 Pro, which would destroy the 7600GT and the x850XT.

It's really worth paying a few bob more at this level.

Then hold out on the monitor, no point jipping out on the graphics card and getting something half as good.
