    Silent cooler for a X1950XTX

Does such a thing exist?, the stock cooler isnt that noisy but when I am trying to run the system silent its bad enough, would the VF900-Cu on silent or the Arctic cooling accelero X2 be enough?

The Zalman isn't silent by any means, but it's certainly an improvement on the stock fan. If you turn the speed down with the included fan controller I guess you could get it to next-to-inaudible levels. Should overly affect cooling either.

Personally, I just keep mine on full permanently - it's plenty quiet enough with the rest of my system (which is entirely kitted out with Sharkoon Golfball 1000s).

The Arctic Coolings, while cheaper, don't do much of a job for me. They're a bit noisier, and just dump more heat onto the motherboard.

the Accelero X2 works great for me actually, tho I'm using an X1800XT. Idle temps dropped from 60C to 40C, while load temps fumbled down from 88C to 55C.

Its a fantastic cooler IMO, I usually leave the X2 running 100%, and its totally inaudible. Actually Auto and 100% sounds about the same..

Comparing when both coolers are going full, The stock X1800XT cooler, idles around 53C and loads around 70C. But that cooler sounds like hell at 100%...

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it's still brilliant compared to the stock cooler - I just prefer the Zalman for my own system.

Apologies if my post suggested it was only OK compared to the stock one.

Though it is only inaudible compared to the rest of your system

The X1950XTX uses PWM so it's a 4-pin header and I don't know if Arctic Cooling have changed the X2's power header for that. There are instructions on their website on how to swap the pins over so you can use the 3 pin plug instead of splicing it in directly to the mains as they suggest elsewhere

I found that downloading ATITool 0.25 Beta 15 and setting the fan controls to dynamic worked fine and kept the fan just below the noise of the case fans while keeping the card idling at round 45 (your case may yield different results). The Zalman VF900-Cu would be a good choice too
