    Whats an R mean?

Hi sorry for such a simple question but I needed a quick response and here was the only place I knew (102 viewing).

I'm just this moment going to buy a Sapphire x1950 pro.

My problem is I want a 512mb model but the only one on the scan website is the rx1950 pro. Does the extra R actually mean anything?

I've based my purchasing decision on reviews I've read and I wouldn't want to sacrifice performance, I'm not sure how all the components work together.

    Ash

Ps. I only really want it to play Neverwinter Nights 2 and perhaps CNC3 in the future.

Ive never heard of a rx1950, but a quick google shows that its does indeed exist.

From comparing specs to the normal x1950, theres seems to be no difference clock or memory speed wise. Same memory type and number of pipelines.

Im wondering whether its just sapphire changing the name for no reason other than marketing or a slightly different cooler etc

Possibly, but im not sure why they would suddenly decide to change the name, when they already market their cards as x1950's.

Sapphires uk website has no mention of the rx1950.

I think your maybe right. Because the rx version of the 256mb model says it comes with a Zalman cooler. I'm assuming something similar for the 512mb model. The problem is Scan description only allows for cooling type "air".

Thanks for your responses guys I'm gonna order it now. I'll let you know how I get on when it arrives.
