Question Any performance hit with ATI on nForce boards?

I'm currently in that age old debate, ATI vs nVidia.

Having settled on an AM2 nForce based motherboard I was wondering if they have any enhancement towards nVidia graphics cards, or the other way of thinkin about it: penalties with ATI cards?

    Here's what I'm thinking:
    Asus M2N-VM DH
    with either a x1950Pro or 7900GS

Reviews seem to put them on par, and there isn't much between them on price, so would motherboard choice tip the scales one way or the other?

    No.

I haven't seen any claims, nor evidence that a GPU runs any better/worse on a chipset made by the same company.

The only exceptions are if you want to run Crossfire or SLI and then its either work or not work

Not that I know of. It'd be very, very anti-competitive to reduce performance on ATi graphics cards, and would certainly be well-known on the internet by now. Law suit is potentially likely too.

I've got a Radeon 1800XT on an nForce4 board and it flies.
