As above really, am buying a 2007WFP monitor and want to use it for high res gaming.
Will the 512MB XFX 7950GT do the job or will I need something more powerful ? If so what ?
cheers
I'm still running a radeon 8500 and it's fine for desktop and the occasional world of warcraft session. I'm getting a new gfx but still haven't made my mind up on one. I'd imagine yours would be fine though.
1680x1050 isnt a crazy high resolution, its when you start using 24" and 30" monitors at native res that graphics cards suffer. Im using a 7900GT at tho mo and its great, a 7950 would be a bit greater

Graphics cards are getting so powerful nowadays there is nothing to worry about. 7950GT will drive 99% of the games fine at maximum in-game setting at 1920x1200 fine, let alone 1680x1050

x1950pro at 1680x1050 i can play all my games at full detail and usualy full AF'n AA.
I would say that card is more than capable of running it at that res. As said the extrememly high resolutions are the ones that make your card bleed.
I have a Gainward 7950GT, and it runs most things at 1600x1200. On the most demanding of games, Gothic 3 etc, you need to drop the details a bit, but still runs great, and most will overclock to near 7900GTX levels.
For a new rig I'd be considering a 8800GTS though, especially as the prices seem to be dropping almost weekly right now.
